		<description>Five years later (well, this is a 2008 post), but I HAVE to say something about it, because you wrote “Ya Kid K was one of the first women to rock a butch hip-hop effect in pop music, inspiring many Black and Latina butch dykes across the country, if not the world!”.
YES! She inspired me... a lot! I&#039;m a black woman from Brazil who was 17 y.o. when I saw Ya Kid K on TV singing &quot;Move this&quot;. Oh God... hypnotizing effect! And one year later I had my first kiss with a girl while playing &quot;Rockin&#039; over the beat&quot;, just because I was dancing to that girl like Ya Kid K used to dance.
See? That Ya Kid&#039; style impacted my life, and I don&#039;t mind if she&#039;s NOT lesbian but straight: I&#039;m black, I&#039;m Brazilian, I&#039;m lesbian - and she&#039;s part of my history.</description>
