Gov. Spitzer: A Resignation on the Way?

The New York Times just broke a story that NY Governor Eliot Spitzer is somehow implicated in an international prostitution ring. Either Spitzer was aware that 4 arrests were made on Friday, or the NYT called him to tell him they were going to break the story (what editors normally do when they are going to spill the tea), and gave him the weekend to get his affairs in order.

“Just last week, federal prosecutors arrested four people in connection with an expensive prostitution operation. Administration officials would not say that this was the ring with which the governor had become involved.

But a person with knowledge of the governor’s role said that the person believes the governor is one of the men identified as clients in court papers.

The governor’s travel records show that he was in Washington in mid-February. One of the clients described in court papers arranged to meet with a prostitute who was part of the ring, the Emperors Club VIP on the night of Feb. 13.”

This is huge. I don’t care, and think sex work should be legal. But its not and as someone who as built a career on going after corrupt politicians and corporations, this is a huge blow to that image. This could mean a resignation, but we’ll see. Developing…

    Oh, the mendacity of it all! LOL. The “high moral standards” types always have skeletons in their closet, don’t they. Doesn’t matter which party, a hypocrite is a hypocrite.

    Of course, six yers ago NY Dems didn’t want to support Carl McCall. They had cast their lot with Spitzer for 2006.

    oh man. i think sex work should be legal too, but this is just hilarious. the high and mighty always have the longest fall it seems.

    Yet another example that the role of government is to design a safe haven for the People, not design people for a ‘safe haven’.
