Silver Lining: Mugabe Will Die Soon
23 Jun
Morgan Tsvangirai, the opposition party leader who was running against Zimbabwean freedom-fighter turned President turned violent dictator Robert Mugabe has pulled out of the run-off election, citing the fear of retaliation against his supporters by government backed forces. He has since fled to the Dutch embassy in capital city Harare for protection. Mugabe has ruled since 1980. He’s now in his 80′s. The silver lining I can find in this drama, after he helped destroy everything that was built after the revolution, is that he won’t live much longer. That may be cruel, but less so than all the death he’s helped cause.

we can only pray that it will be sooner rather than later. this has been a truly sad spectacle to watch… this from a nigerian!
I encourage you to be careful what you wish for. I foresee a Haiti-style U.S. and U.K.-backed military intervention (via the U.N. or African Union) in the not-too-distant future.
White people, who make up less than 2% of the population of Zimbabwe, still control more than 60% of the arable land. Whites (of which I am one) will not give up this control without a fight.
Greg — I didn’t hear the author voicing a “wish” so much as stating the facts.
… And I guess by stating the facts, I mean, pointing out that power and authority will thankfully no longer be located in the figure of a violent dictator, even if Mugabe’s death will not alter the the circumstances that placed him in his position in the first place.
